Waste

The impact on the environment and the the actions to minimize the amount of waste produced and disposed of is a constant focus at St Andrews. Focal areas under this theme are covered in CAPS curriculum topics as well as beyond the curriculum:

• Global and local waste issues: research projects and case studies have been done in lessons to understand the waste stream

• Becoming a waste-smart school: our learners have been taught about recyclables and non-recyclables, they understand and apply the 7 R's; we have compost heaps at school, we have an active waste recycling program and we recycle and re-use waste in the classroom
