School Grounds

There are a number of ways in which we appreciate and promote the value of biodiversity and nature on the school property. The following areas are highlighted in this theme:

  • Infrastructure planning and maintenance:            We identify and meet school needs, look after the boundary and security needs, maintain resources and teaching and learning tools and equipment.

  • Waste:                                                                   We find ways to minimise waste, be smart about recyclables and turn organic waste into compost.

  • Gardens and food gardens:                                    We plant more indigenous trees, plan for shade and shelter, plant vegetables, and use the food garden as a teaching resource.

  • Outdoor Classrooms:                                          We identify opportunities to take teaching outdoors for different subjects and lessons.

  • Curriculum Links:                                                   A sample of topics covered in our curriculum under this theme.
